The Present
Now - The process was slow and painful, but the fey healed the land once again, and the humans started over. The Rune Academy was beyond repair, and the presence of the Strangers in it for so long didn't incite any Thaumaturges to go back. It was abandoned, and has been ever since. The Kaderrians returned home to rebuild, but many who had fought in the war found their help needed in the other Kingdoms, fighting off the last monsters that the Strangers had controlled. This was the start of Kaderria's traditional mercenary guilds, who have been working in the same way since then, appreciated, but not-quite-welcome in their neighbours' countries. The Ancients had almost all either left, died of old age or died on the battlefield before the end of the war, causing all kinds of folk legends to spring up about the last Ancient's battle with the last Stranger. Many other stories that persist to this day in the Seven Kingdoms (including those about a creature named Sylphe and her powerful relics) started in the years right after the end of the war. Now, two centuries later, the Seven Kingdoms are still at peace, humans and fey being able to live free and without fear. (Except for those pesky leftover monsters that still inhabit parts of the countryside....)
