The Golem War

The Interim - For nearly five hundred years there was peace, and the events of the First War began to fade from memory. The study of the Rule by humans gave many of the fey reason to break their isolation and begin living among the humans, while for others it was all the more reason to retreat back to their own kind. Kaderria had recovered from the aftermath of the conflict as best they could. For breaking the First Treaty, they were shunned by the fey; and after the Song was taken from them, the fey were practically never seen in Kaderria again. The land was never healed, to this day, reminders of the conflict can be found all over Kaderrian soil.

The Golem War - The Ancients were certain that the last of the Strangers lay dead since the end of the First War, and they were just as confident that the Seven Kingdoms would be safe for the future. Age began to claim them in greater numbers, but they were at peace with their fate. At least, they were until unsettling rumors began coming from the north. It seemed that a handful of Strangers had not been killed at the close of the last war, and were emerging from hiding. The last Ancients did not have time to act before the Academy of Rune fell.

Soon after, Kaderria was attacked by the Strangers, who came with an army of abominations, monsters and golems to do their bidding. However they had a bigger fight on their hands than they had anticipated. For a few seasons, the people of Kaderria managed to hold off the invaders before Vanaeimr fell and its forges were harnessed to spit out golem shells for the Sorcerers to use. Though still reviled and mistrusted by the other inhabitants of the Seven Kingdoms, many Kaderrians chose to flee their country, joining the armies of their neighbours in the hope of reclaiming their home. The last handful of Ancients joined the fighting, but even their power wasn't enough to quickly turn the tides of battle in their favour. For entire generations the war was on, both sides trading seasons and years of having the upper hand, though never enough to give one side a decisive victory over the other.

Finally, spies sent to Kaderria and Rune learned that the Strangers were not a united group, and over the course of some years, they managed to drive a wedge between the individual sorcerers. Mistrust, paranoia and jealousy festered among them, and it wasn't long before they fought each other nearly as hard as they fought their enemies. The mortals meanwhile made the most of their weakened enemies and struck back once and for all. There are many tales telling exactly how it came about, but when the last of the Ancients ended the last Stranger's life on the Moors, the Golem War was finally over and the Seven Kingdoms could start rebuilding once again.
